McKinley | Two Months

Little Miss was TWO months old on Sunday. It seems like we just brought her home from the hospital and also like she's been a part of our family forever. Being her Momma is the best thing that could've ever happened to me. I cannot believe I only have one more month at home with this girl before maternity leave is over. I am soaking up every minute of her cuddles.

Nicknames: MK, Chubby Bunny (she loves to eat), Peanut

Weight: Since we are still going to the breastfeeding mama's group twice a week, I have a pretty good idea of what you weigh. I have a feeling you will be between 11 and 12 pounds at your 2-month appointment. 11 pounds, 13 ounces at your 2 months check up.

Height: I don't know that you've gained much in height this month. If you have it's definitely in your waist, all your pants are too long for you and have to be rolled up. You may have gotten short legs from me after all! 22 inches - which explains why your pants are so long.

Looks: Brown hair, a little bit anyway, but since your cradle cap is clearing up, we're hoping your hair will continue to thicken up. Eyes are still blue! We still find it hard to believe they will stay that way, but here's hoping! We've also heard that you're starting to look more like Mommy, but I still think you look more like Daddy.

Personality: You seem to be discovering so much this month! You're very interested in shadows and bright colors. You love to sit in Mommy's or Daddy's lap and look around. You are smiling lots lately (and it always seems to be after you do something you shouldn't - like when you projectile vomited across your whole room after Mommy gave you medicine) and I cannot get over how cute you look.

Eating: You're somewhat more scheduled this month. I have a pretty good idea now of when you'll want to eat (normally every 3 hours), but I still feed you on demand if you get hungry before. We are still exclusively breastfeeding but we do feed you bottles of pumped milk occasionally. We haven't had any issues with bottle feeding you!

Sleeping: You're having longer sleep stretches this month (4 to 5 hours) but still nowhere close to sleeping through the night. We've moved your bedtime up a bit to around 9 PM and you normally sleep until between 1 and 2 AM and then wake up again around 4:30 or 5 AM. You're so close to sleeping until 6 AM which is when Mommy would like to get you up once I go back to work, hopefully, we'll make it there soon! You did refuse to take naps anywhere but on someone this month and you are also boycotting lying flat in your bed, so you've been sleeping in your Rockaroo at night.

Wearing: Still in Size 1 diapers. You can wear some newborn clothes still, mostly onesies, but we have moved up to 0-3 months in most everything. Most pants and sleepers are still a little long in the legs.

Favorite Things: You still love snuggling and eating. You love your swing (Rockaroo) even more this month. In fact, you've been sleeping in it a lot overnight because you seem to hate sleeping flat. You seem to love sitting up this month. You get mad if Mommy turns you around and tries to lay you on my shoulder. You want to see everything. You seem to like tummy time slightly less this month, but you're rocking lifting your head up.

Least Favorite Things: Diaper changes, bath time, being cold, getting into your car seat, having gas, having your clothes put over your head

2nd Month Experiences:

• We went out to eat again. This time you slept the entire time! But, when we went out for Greg's birthday, you were awake the whole time! You're very alert and love to look around.
• You celebrated your first Valentine's Day by spitting up all over your Valentine's clothes. Daddy, Jules, and Granny all got you your first Valentine's cards.
• Mommy and Daddy left you twice this month! Only for two hours at a time. The first time, we went to a wedding and Granny stayed with you. The second time, we went to check out your daycare and Gigi watched you.
• The weather warmed up so we started going outside a lot more this month! Sometimes we go on walks around the neighborhood or we lay on a blanket in our yard.
• We also went to the park for the first time! Gigi, Pops, and Aunt Lexi came and we had a picnic.
• On a sad note, you and I both got thrush this month. :( It has been hard to clear up. Especially because if the medicine drips down your throat at all when I apply it to the sore spots you will projectile vomit everywhere. We have been treating it for a week so far and it's gotten a little better, but not much.
• You are more interested in toys this month! You've even grasped onto a few and love to play on your play mat.
• We started using your Sit-Me-Up seat this month since you have better control of your neck/head. You love sitting in it and looking around while Mommy and Daddy eat dinner or do some chores.
• You also stayed with Daddy alone for the first time. Mommy went to a consignment sale to buy you lots of clothes for this Spring and Summer and Daddy looked after you. You cried a lot and refused to take naps, so we are hoping your next stay with Daddy goes better!
