At the beginning of February, Brad and I put down a contract on a lot in an amazing subdivision to build our dream home. We were set to close on our brand new house this past Thursday, June 27th. From almost the beginning, this process was a disaster. It was supposed to take 30 days to get permits to clear our lot. That 30 days turned into almost 90. Not to mention, we had the hardest time getting answers about any questions we had concerning the building process. On April 18th, they finally started clearing our lot. On Brad's 26th birthday, April 21st, we learned that our builder had decided he would be unable to build the home we had contractually agreed upon. Instead of paying the extra $40,000 they insisted they needed to continue building our home, we broke our contract and got our money back.
And continued to live in the hotel, surviving on fast food as our hotel room has no mini-fridge or microwave. We spent another month and half searching for a resale home and found a few that we were interested in. However, we didn't like any of them more than the house we had intended to build and everything felt like settling. So, at the beginning of June, we decided to end our house hunt for a while and move into an apartment. We were both feeling the stress of finding a place before our wedding in September, and that was on top of all the other stresses in our lives currently.
The long and the short of it, is that we are no longer homeless! This is my first post since this one, that is coming to you from the comfort of my own home. And while I'm sad that it's from an apartment and isn't from a home, I am beyond relieved to be living somewhere that belongs to me again. Even if it means that we will be moving again, once we resume our home search and find the perfect one for us, which won't be happening until after the wedding.
How our move started.
With the world's tiniest moving truck and a buttload of rain.
But on the plus side, this little kitty moved back in with her mommy & daddy.
Shout out to my mommy and daddy for being her pseudo-parents since February.
Congrats for finally having a place of your own! The house of your dreams will happen when the time is right :)
